**BREAKING: KANGAROO ON THE LOOSE IN CHIANG MAI, RESIDENTS ADVISED TO WEAR HELMETS AND PANIC**
Chiang Mai, Thailand – In a bizarre incident that has left zookeepers hopping mad, a rogue kangaroo named “Kiki” escaped from the Chiang Mai Zoo while its enclosure was being scrubbed clean. The marsupial menace, described as “fiercely adorable” and “possibly plotting world domination,” is currently roaming the streets of Chiang Mai, leaving a trail of bewildered tourists and snack-thieving chaos in its wake.
Eyewitnesses claim that Kiki, a 3-year-old ‘roo with a mischievous glint in her eye, hopped out of her cage at approximately 10:45 AM, while zookeepers were distracted by a heated debate over who ate the last of the zoo’s complimentary pad thai.
“I was just minding my own business, taking a selfie with a confused-looking elephant,” said tourist Emily Wilson, “when suddenly this kangaroo comes bounding out of nowhere, does a backflip over a parked tuk-tuk, and starts munching on a vendor’s cart of fresh coconuts.”
Kiki, who is reportedly 5’8″ tall and sporting a fetching pair of striped socks (which she allegedly “acquired” from a nearby laundry line), has been spotted bouncing around the city’s famous Nimmanhaemin Road, causing widespread pandemonium and delight among locals and visitors alike.
“I tried to take a photo, but she photobombed me with a giant thumbs-up and a cheeky grin,” said tourist David Lee. “Now my Instagram followers think I’m crazy.”
The Chiang Mai Zoo has issued a statement urging residents to remain calm, but also to “please, for the love of all things fluffy and Australian, do not approach or feed Kiki, as she may be plotting to steal your snacks and/or lead a kangaroo uprising.”
A team of highly trained (or not) zookeepers, armed with an arsenal of carrots, bananas, and strategically placed whoopee cushions, has been deployed to track down Kiki and coax her back to the safety of her enclosure.
In the meantime, locals are advised to secure any loose snacks, hide their favorite socks, and prepare for the possibility of an impromptu kangaroo dance party in the streets.
**UPDATE:** Kiki has just been spotted doing a backflip over a parked songthaew (red truck). If you have any information or simply want to join in on the fun, please contact the Chiang Mai Zoo or just shout “G’day, Kiki!” really loudly.
