**BREAKING: KANGAROO ON THE LOOSE IN TEXAS, DEPUTY CALLED IN TO WRANGLE ROGUE ‘ROO IN RED**
Austin, TX – In a bizarre incident that has left residents of a small Texas town hopping mad, a kangaroo was spotted roaming the streets while sporting a bright red jacket.
According to eyewitnesses, the ‘roo, estimated to be around 3 feet tall and wearing what appeared to be a miniature red windbreaker, was seen bounding down Main Street, causing a stir among locals.
“It was like something out of a cartoon,” said Jane Doe, a local business owner. “I was sipping my coffee when I saw this…this thing hopping down the street. At first, I thought it was a really big rabbit, but then I saw the jacket and I just lost it.”
Deputy Jim Johnson of the Travis County Sheriff’s Office was quickly dispatched to the scene to wrangle the wayward marsupial.
“I’ve dealt with my fair share of wild animals, but this was a first,” Deputy Johnson said in a statement. “I mean, who expects to see a kangaroo in a red jacket? I was like, ‘Is this some kind of prank?’ But then I saw the ‘roo give me a sassy little hop and I was like, ‘Okay, this is real.'”
After a 10-minute chase, Deputy Johnson managed to corral the kangaroo into a specially designed enclosure, where it was safely contained and provided with a miniature Texas-themed blanket to keep it cozy.
When asked what the kangaroo’s plans were for the future, Deputy Johnson quipped, “Well, I think it’s going to have to trade in that red jacket for a pair of handcuffs. But seriously, we’re just glad no one was hurt and the ‘roo is safe and sound.”
The kangaroo, whose name has not been released, is currently being held at a local animal sanctuary, where it will receive counseling for its apparent love of bold fashion statements.
