Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. – In a jaw-dropping display of bravery and skill, PGA golfer Billy Horschel didn’t just conquer the course at the Cognizant Classic on Thursday – he also tamed a feisty gator that dared to get in his way.
Horschel carded an impressive 5-under 66, but it was his daring encounter with the snappy reptile that has everyone talking. As he wrapped up his first round, a gator emerged from the depths of the 17th hole’s water hazard, sending nearby spectators running for cover.
Undaunted, Horschel – a man on a mission – whipped out his trusty wedge and prepared for battle. The crowd held its collective breath as the golfer, with a fierce glint in his eye, began to… well, wrangle the gator.
“I’ve faced some tough opponents before, but this guy was different,” Horschel said in a post-round interview. “I mean, it was like he was trying to steal my ball! I had to defend myself and my scorecard.”
