In a bizarre series of events that has left aviation authorities and cat lovers alike scratching their heads, a mischievous Maine Coon cat named Mittens has become the world’s most seasoned (and most bemused) international traveler.
According to sources, Mittens’ owner, a well-meaning but hapless traveler, inadvertently left her cat’s cage in the cargo hold of a flight from Auckland, New Zealand to Sydney, Australia. But little did they know, Mittens had other plans.
As the plane soared through the skies, Mittens managed to wriggle free from her cage and make her way to the cockpit, where she charmed the pilots into giving her a joyride. Before anyone could say “kiwi cat-astrophe,” Mittens had convinced the crew to make an unscheduled detour back to Auckland.
But that was just the beginning. As the plane landed and took off again, Mittens hitched another ride, this time making her way to Melbourne, Australia, where she demanded (and received) a gourmet cat buffet and a spa treatment.
But Mittens wasn’t done yet! After a quick layover, she persuaded the pilots to take her on a third trip, this time to Brisbane, Australia, where she allegedly tried her paw at surfing and earned the nickname “The Whisker Wizard of the Coast.”
“We’re still trying to figure out how she did it,” said a stunned Qantas spokesperson. “We’ve reviewed the footage, and it appears Mittens has a Ph.D. in aviation hijinks. We’re offering her a lifetime supply of catnip and a frequent flyer miles account.”
Mittens’ owner, still reeling from the news, was quoted as saying, “I’m just glad she’s having the time of her life! Who needs a passport when you have a mischievous Maine Coon and a penchant for adventure?”
