**URGENT – WILD BIRD ON THE LOOSE**
Lincolnshire, England – Authorities in Lincolnshire are urging residents to exercise caution and refrain from pursuing a loose emu that has been spotted roaming the countryside.
The large, flightless bird, native to Australia, is believed to have escaped from a private property and has been causing a stir in the community. While some onlookers have been eager to catch a glimpse of the unusual visitor, police are warning against attempting to chase or capture the emu.
“We understand that the sighting of an emu in the wild is a rare and exciting event, but we must prioritize the safety of both the public and the bird itself,” said Inspector Jane Smith of the Lincolnshire Police. “We are working to humanely capture and relocate the emu, and we ask that members of the public allow us to do our job without interference.”
The emu, estimated to be around 6 feet tall and weighing over 100 pounds, has been spotted in several areas, including near roads and residential neighborhoods. Witnesses describe the bird as “alert and skittish,” and police are concerned that it may become aggressive if cornered or approached.
“We’ve had reports of people using all-terrain vehicles to chase the emu, which is not only putting the bird at risk but also posing a danger to the drivers and passengers of these vehicles,” said Inspector Smith. “We urge everyone to keep a safe distance and allow our trained professionals to handle the situation.”
The police are working with local wildlife experts to safely capture and relocate the emu to a more suitable environment. In the meantime, residents are advised to be aware of their surroundings and report any further sightings to the authorities.
