**BREAKING: Major Highway in New York Closed Due to Soybean Powder Spill**

A significant portion of a major highway in New York was shut down early yesterday morning after a tractor-trailer accident resulted in a massive spill of soybean powder, causing hazardous driving conditions.

According to the New York State Police, the incident occurred at approximately 3:00 AM on Interstate 87, also known as the Adirondack Northway, in the town of Malta, Saratoga County. A tractor-trailer carrying a large quantity of soybean powder lost its cargo, covering a significant stretch of the highway in a thick, powdery substance.

Police and emergency responders were quickly dispatched to the scene, and the highway was immediately closed in both directions to ensure public safety. The closure affected traffic traveling between Albany and Lake George, with drivers being rerouted onto local roads.

The New York State Department of Transportation (DOT) and the New York State Police worked together to assess the situation and develop a plan to clean up the spill. Crews were brought in to sweep and vacuum the soybean powder from the road surface, but the process was expected to take several hours.

Drivers were warned to exercise extreme caution and avoid the area until the road was deemed safe. The spill created a significant hazard, not only due to the slippery conditions but also because of the potential for reduced visibility.

“It’s a real mess out there,” said Trooper James Smith of the New York State Police. “We’re doing our best to get the road cleaned up and reopened as quickly as possible, but safety is our top priority. We urge all drivers to be patient and find alternative routes.”

The cause of the accident is still under investigation, and authorities are working to determine the extent of the damage to the highway and surrounding environment.

Motorists are advised to check for updates on the New York State DOT’s website or social media accounts for the latest information on traffic conditions and road closures.
