**POLISH CITY MAKES HISTORY WITH MASSIVE ICE BATH EVENT**
In a bizarre and chilly spectacle, the Polish city of Poznań has officially broken the world record for the largest ice bath, with nearly 200 people taking turns immersing themselves in a small pool filled with ice and water.
The record-breaking attempt, which took place on Saturday, drew a large crowd of onlookers and participants eager to take the plunge and make history. The event, organized by the city’s tourism board, aimed to promote Poznań as a hub for unusual and exciting experiences.
According to Guinness World Records officials, a total of 196 people participated in the ice bath event, surpassing the previous record of 128 participants set in 2018.
The event’s organizers reported that the participants, clad in swimsuits, took turns immersing themselves in the icy waters, with some even donning festive hats and sunglasses to add to the spectacle.
“I was a bit nervous at first, but it was an incredible experience,” said participant Katarzyna Nowak. “The cold water was invigorating, and I felt like I was part of something special.”
The ice bath, which was prepared by a team of experts, consisted of a large tub filled with a mixture of ice and water, maintained at a temperature of around 0°C (32°F).
While the event was largely successful, a few participants did struggle with the extreme cold, and some medical personnel were on hand to provide assistance.
The city’s mayor, Jacek Jaśkowiak, was present at the event and praised the participants for their bravery. “I’m thrilled that Poznań has set a new world record,” he said. “This event showcases our city’s creativity and willingness to take on new challenges.”
The record-breaking ice bath event is expected to attract more tourists to Poznań, boosting the city’s reputation as a hub for unusual and exciting experiences.
As for the participants, many were already planning their next adventure. “I’m hooked on ice baths now,” said participant Piotr Dąbrowski. “Who knows, maybe next year we’ll break the record again?”
