Local Woman Miraculously Finds Long-Lost Family Heirloom with Help of Facebook
As the saying goes, “when all other options fail, turn to social media.” And this couldn’t be more true for one New York woman, who miraculously found a precious family artwork thanks to a Facebook post.
The search for this long-lost heirloom, which had been missing for years, was no easy feat. After scouring her home from top to bottom, the woman, whose identity we won’t disclose for her privacy (or, let’s be real, because we didn’t bother to ask), decided to turn to the internet for help.
“Out of desperation and a complete disregard for privacy, I turned to Facebook,” she told us in an interview. “And boy, am I glad I did.”
The woman posted a photo of the artwork, which she describes as “priceless,” on Facebook, along with a plea for help in finding it. And, as if by magic, the post was shared hundreds of times, reaching a wider audience than she ever could have imagined.
“I was truly blown away by the response,” the woman said, with what we can only assume was a tone of complete and utter sincerity. “People really do care, you know?”
It wasn’t long before a stranger reached out to the woman with some promising news. They had seen the artwork in question at a yard sale a few towns over, and had purchased it for a mere $5.
“I couldn’t believe it,” the woman said, her eyes becoming misty as she recounted the story. “After all these years, and it was just sitting there, waiting to be found.”
After a brief, but undoubtedly emotional reunion with the artwork, the woman thanked the stranger who had found it and offered them $10 for their trouble. “I just really wanted to show my appreciation,” she explained, completely neglecting to mention the fact that this art piece is supposedly “priceless.”
The woman took to Facebook once again to announce that she had found the heirloom, thanking her friends and strangers alike for their help in the search. She even threw in a cute little hashtag, #nevergiveup. How heartwarming.
Now, we don’t want to be cynical here, but couldn’t this woman have just searched for this artwork a little bit harder on her own? Or maybe, just maybe, she could have kept better track of her supposed “priceless” family heirlooms.
But, who are we to judge? We’re just glad that this woman’s Facebook post went viral and brought this artwork back into her hands. Because, as we all know, a piece of artwork is worth much more than the time and effort it takes to actually find it.
So, congratulations to this woman on her successful Facebook post, and we wish her all the best in her future treasure hunts. Let’s just hope she doesn’t lose anything else too “priceless” anytime soon.
