The City of Kyle, Texas, has announced a groundbreaking event that will surely be the talk of the town (and possibly the world). The city is making another attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the largest same-name gathering with an official “Gathering of the Kyles.”
Yes, you read that correctly. Kyle, Texas, is home to so many Kyles that they are trying to set a world record out of it. Apparently, having the same name as your neighbor is a matter of great pride in this community. Who needs individuality when you can blend in with a sea of Kyles?
The event organizers are pulling out all the stops to make this gathering of Kyles a historic one. There will be a Kyle costume contest, with prizes awarded to the Kyle who looks the most like a Kyle (beards and mustaches are a plus). There will also be a Kyle photo booth, where Kyles can document the fact that they were once part of the largest gathering of Kyles in the world (because that’s something you definitely want to remember).
But that’s not all, folks. The main event will be the Kyle parade, in which Kyles of all ages will march solemnly down the streets of Kyle, Texas, celebrating the fact that they all share the same name. It’s like a family reunion, except everyone is named Kyle and nobody really knows each other.
In addition to these festivities, there will be food trucks (because what gathering is complete without them?) and live music. The headliner has yet to be announced, but rumor has it that someone named Kyle will be performing (surprise, surprise).
The previous record for the largest same-name gathering was set in Kyle, Texas, in 2019 (because apparently this is an annual thing). The city’s attempt to break the record again is proof that the people of Kyle are not content with simply being known for their Kyle-ness. They want to be known for having the most Kyles in one place.
As excitement for the event builds, some are wondering what will happen if two Kyles get into an argument over whose name is the most Kyle-like. Will they have a Kyle-off, in which they must prove their Kyle-ness through feats of strength and endurance? Or will they simply yell “Kyle!” at each other until one gives in?
Only time will tell. For now, the residents of Kyle, Texas, are eagerly preparing for the world’s largest Kyle party. So if you’re a Kyle, be sure to mark your calendars for this historic event. And if you’re not a Kyle, well, maybe you can change your name before it’s too late. Because let’s face it, being a Kyle just sounds so much cooler than being a Ben or a Jennifer.
