In a surprising turn of events, an emu managed to escape from its enclosure in a Colorado farm and ended up wandering onto a busy roadway, causing quite the commotion amongst commuters. The large bird, which is native to Australia, was reportedly spotted on the side of the road by a passing motorist who immediately called the authorities.
Local police officers quickly arrived on the scene and were forced to shut down a section of the highway in order to capture the rogue emu. According to witnesses, the emu put up a good fight and managed to evade the authorities for some time, leading to cheers and applause from onlookers who were clearly entertained by the scene.
As it turns out, the emu had managed to escape from its enclosure by breaking through a fence and promptly went on the run. It’s unclear how the bird managed to wander onto the highway, but luckily, no accidents were reported and the emu was eventually captured unharmed.
In an interview with local news outlets, the owner of the farm where the emu was being kept had this to say: “We are incredibly sorry for any inconvenience caused by our rogue emu and we promise to take better care of our feathered friend in future.”
