In an absolutely heartwarming development, a runaway parrot was reunited with its owner and – are you ready for this? – its canine best friend. It’s like a real-life Disney movie, folks.
The parrot, whose name is Mango (because of course it is), escaped from his cage in his owner’s home on Monday. After a frantic search that lasted all of two hours, Mango was spotted hanging out in a nearby tree, where he apparently decided to make himself comfortable for a while. His owners tried to coax him down with some seeds, but the cheeky bird refused, instead deciding to spread his wings and fly away farther from them.
But don’t worry, the story has a happy ending. Thanks to the quick thinking of Mango’s owner (and a little help from social media), they were reunited on Tuesday. Mango’s best friend, a Golden Retriever named Charlie (because why not?), greeted him with a wagging tail and a few licks right on the nose.
“I can’t even put into words how happy I am,” said Mango’s owner, who declined to give their name because, come on, who wants to be known as The Person Whose Parrot Ran Away But Don’t Worry It’s Back Now. “I was so worried he wouldn’t come back to me, but everything turned out just fine in the end.”
Charlie, who was reportedly inconsolable during his feathered friend’s brief escape, now insists on following Mango around the house everywhere he goes. The two can often be found snuggled up together on the couch or playing a game of fetch together in the backyard. It’s enough to make your heart melt.
“I’m just glad everything worked out,” said Charlie’s owner, who also declined to give their name because, really, who cares about the dog? “It’s always a pleasure to see these two goofballs together. I swear, they were meant to be together.”
Well, there you have it, folks. The feel-good animal story of the day. If only all of our problems were so easily solved. Let’s all take a moment to bask in the warm glow of Mango and Charlie’s reunion, and let’s hope that they never have to be apart again.
