Local wildlife enthusiasts were astonished to witness a baboon throw a family of mongooses by their tails in a rather unfortunate escapade. The incident occurred when the baboon, in a rash moment of poor judgement, thought it would be a good idea to steal a baby mongoose.
According to eye-witnesses, the furious mongoose family was having none of it and proceeded to launch a full-scale attack on the hapless baboon. In retaliation, the baboon decided to show off its impressive throwing skills and threw the mongooses by their tails. Perhaps not the smartest move considering baboons are not exactly known for their precise aim.
Despite its questionable actions, the baboon did manage to get away with the baby mongoose in question. However, this victory did not come without consequences as the mongoose family continued to pursue the baboon in a rather dogged fashion.
The incident has since sparked fierce debate amongst the animal kingdom about the appropriate behaviour for primates in such situations. Some have argued that the baboon’s actions were entirely justifiable whilst others have condemned them as barbaric and uncivilised.
Nevertheless, the incident has certainly put the spotlight on baboon-mongoose relations with many now questioning the validity of national geographic documentaries. It seems the natural world is not as peaceful and harmonious as we once believed.
In response to the incident, local authorities have issued a warning to all baboons and mongooses to leave each other’s offspring well alone. Failure to comply with this directive will result in severe consequences.
Whilst some may argue that such incidents are an inevitable part of the animal kingdom, others suggest that stricter laws need to be put in place to prevent this type of behaviour from occurring in future.
As one eye-witness remarked, “It was like something out of a cartoon. I half expected Wile E. Coyote to appear at any moment.” It seems even Mother Nature has a sense of humour, whether we like it or not.
In conclusion, the baboon who threw the mongooses may have won the battle, but it certainly did not win the war. We can only hope that both baboons and mongooses will learn that stealing and throwing are never the best solutions to any problem.
