British Columbia’s Rejects Vanity Plates Include ‘TURD,’ ‘BOINK’

As if we needed more evidence that people have no sense of decency, British Columbia’s Insurance Corporation has recently released a list of rejected vanity plates that are bound to make you lose faith in humanity.

Among the nearly 3,000 rejected applications were such charming suggestions as “TURD,” “BOINK,” and “FARTMNL,” which we can only assume was supposed to read as “Fart Manly.” Because nothing says “I’m a sophisticated and classy individual” quite like broadcasting your affinity for bodily functions on your license plate.

Other notable rejections include “B0 0BIES,” “GUNDERP,” and “BIGGUNS,” all of which were no doubt intended to convey a deep and profound message about the owner’s self-esteem. Because what better way to show the world how secure you are in your own skin than by plastering your insecurities on your car?

Of course, not all of the rejected plates were quite so crass. Some were simply too suggestive for polite company, like “H0RNY1,” “BJ6789,” and “S3XYPHL,” which we can only assume was meant to say “Sexy Phil,” because clearly Phil is the kind of guy who would put that on his license plate.

Others, like “KILLALL,” “DEADFAN,” and “392AQ,” suggest a slightly more ominous motive. Is it any wonder that these were rejected? We can only hope that the people behind these applications were stopped before they had a chance to carry out their nefarious deeds.

But all joking aside, it’s clear that these applications represent a larger problem in our society. Whether it’s a misguided sense of humor or a severe lack of taste, the fact remains that there are individuals out there who believe that putting offensive or suggestive messages on their car is a good idea. And while we may be able to laugh off these rejected applications as nothing more than a collection of tasteless jokes, the reality is that they reflect a deeper issue of disrespect and lack of consideration for others.

So the next time you think about applying for a vanity plate, remember this: just because you can say something, doesn’t mean you should. And if you really want to impress people with your creativity and wit, try coming up with a message that doesn’t involve bodily functions or sexual innuendos. Your fellow drivers will thank you for it.
