California man breaks world record by collecting over a thousand hotel keycards, proving once and for all that there is truly nothing more impressive to do.

John Smith, a resident of Los Angeles, California, has managed to collect a staggering 1,136 hotel keycards from various hotels all over the world. Smith claims he started collecting keycards on a whim five years ago when he found a discarded hotel keycard on a beach in Hawaii. From then on, he made it his life’s mission to collect as many as possible, spending countless hours searching for them in hotel lobbies, trash cans and even asking front desk clerks to give him their spare keycards.

“I don’t know why I started doing this,” said Smith in an interview with a local newspaper. “I guess I just thought it would be cool to have something that nobody else has. And now I have 1,136 of them!”

Smith’s achievement did not go unnoticed, as the Guinness World Records has officially recognized him as the holder of the world record for “Most Hotel Keycards Collected”. Smith received a certificate from Guinness World Records in a ceremony held in his home, attended by his family and friends, and of course, his beloved keycards.

“I can’t believe I actually made it into the Guinness World Records,” exclaimed Smith, as he proudly displayed his collection on a wall-mounted display case. “I hope this inspires other people to do something equally pointless with their lives.”

Although there is no real practical value to collecting hotel keycards, Smith believes that his collection has some sentimental value and is a testament to his love for travel. “Each keycard represents a different hotel that I’ve stayed at,” he said. “They remind me of the memories I’ve made in those places and the people I’ve met.”

Smith plans to continue adding to his collection, with a goal of reaching 2,000 keycards in the near future. “I’m not sure what I’ll do with them all,” he admitted. “But I figure if I keep collecting, I’ll eventually find a use for them.”

When asked what advice he has for other aspiring keycard collectors, Smith said, “Don’t give up, no matter how many times you get kicked out of hotels for asking for spare keycards. Follow your dreams, no matter how dumb they may seem to everyone else.”

In a world where people are constantly striving for success, wealth and power, it’s refreshing to see someone who is content with collecting hotel keycards. Although it may not seem like a major accomplishment, it’s a reminder that sometimes the most pointless things can bring the most joy and fulfilment. Congratulations, John Smith, on your world record achievement. May your keycards continue to bring you as much happiness as they have brought you this far.
