Local contractor Joe Smith was met with quite the surprise when he began a routine remodeling job in a family’s bathroom. After tearing out the old tub, he stumbled upon a grenade hidden behind the pipes.
“I thought it was a prank at first,” Smith chuckled. “But nope, turns out it was the real deal.”
According to Smith, the family had no idea how the explosive ended up in their home. “They were just as shocked as I was,” he remarked. “Although, to be fair, they did mention their uncle used to be in the military.”
Thankfully, the grenade was not active and was promptly removed by local authorities. However, this did not stop some members of the community from overreacting.
“I mean, come on, it’s just a grenade,” scoffed local resident Karen Walters. “It’s not like it’s a nuclear missile or anything.”
Another resident, Bob Sanders, shared similar sentiments. “Honestly, I’m just disappointed that it wasn’t a shark or something more exciting,” he grumbled.
But despite the sarcastic remarks, the discovery of the grenade has raised concerns about proper disposal of hazardous materials.
“Let’s face it, most of us have probably never thought about what to do if we find a grenade behind our bathtub,” stated local police chief, Tom Johnson. “But it’s important for everyone to be aware of the potential danger and notify authorities immediately if something like this is discovered.”
Although Smith admits the incident added a little excitement to his day, he urges homeowners to thoroughly check their homes before beginning any remodeling projects.
“You never know what you might find behind your walls,” he warned. “It’s always better to be safe than sorry.”
As for the family whose bathroom was home to the grenade, they are just grateful no one was hurt.
“It definitely gave us a scare,” the homeowners stated. “But now we have a unique story to share at our next family gathering.”
