Moose Commits Halloween Robbery, Leaves No Witnesses Behind
In a bizarre turn of events, a homeowner in Anchorage, Alaska experienced the ultimate Halloween horror as her prized pumpkin was stolen right off her porch. However, this wasn’t just a regular case of petty theft. The unsuspecting culprit was actually a moose. That’s right, a moose. And it was all caught on camera.
The homeowner, Mrs. Smith (name changed for privacy purposes), had decorated her front porch with spooky Halloween decorations including a particularly large and impressive looking pumpkin. Little did she know that her decorating efforts would attract more than just trick or treaters. In the early hours of Halloween night, Mrs. Smith’s security camera captured footage of a moose sneaking up to her porch, sniffing around the decorations and then casually walking off with the prized pumpkin in its mouth.
The footage has since gone viral, with many people expressing their shock and amusement at the unusual robbery. When asked to comment, the Anchorage Police Department spokesperson tried to play it off as a humorous situation, stating, “Looks like the moose had the munchies, we’ll definitely keep an eye out for them” but sources suggest they are taking this seriously and putting out an APB for the missing pumpkin.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Smith is understandably devastated at the loss of her prized pumpkin. She had told friends and family that it was the perfect shape, size and texture for carving and had big plans for it. She planned to use it as the centerpiece for her Halloween decorations, complete with spooky lighting and scary sound effects. Now, all she has is an empty porch and a security camera footage that will forever remind her of the pumpkin that once was.
This isn’t the first time that a moose has been caught on camera committing petty crimes in Anchorage. Earlier this year, another moose was spotted eating someone’s prized flowers and the year prior, another one was seen stealing a child’s toy left on a front lawn. It seems that these wild animals have little regard for personal property and are determined to wreak havoc on any unsuspecting homeowners.
Whilst many might find this situation amusing, it is important to remember that moose are unpredictable and dangerous animals. In fact, in 2019 there were more than 40 reported moose attacks across the state of Alaska. So next time you see a moose lurking around your property, my advice would be to stay indoors and keep your pumpkins close.
