Shoppers at a California Sam’s Club were given quite the surprise last Tuesday when a deer decided to stampede through the aisles. Witnesses say the deer appeared to be in a hurry, likely rushing to stock up on all of its essentials before the upcoming hunting season.
At approximately 4:30 PM, shoppers were busy perusing the aisles for bulk items when all of a sudden, a brown blur darted past them. At first, many thought it was just a large dog that had wandered in, but upon closer inspection, it turned out to be a deer.
“I couldn’t believe it,” said shopper Linda Smith. “I saw this deer just bolting down the cereal aisle and it nearly knocked over the entire display. I mean, I know Sam’s Club has some great deals, but this was ridiculous.”
Despite causing a commotion, the deer managed to avoid any major collisions and didn’t appear to be injured. However, Sam’s Club management was quick to react and called animal control to handle the situation.
“We take the safety of our customers and employees very seriously,” said store manager John Hernandez. “While we’re no strangers to a little excitement here at Sam’s Club, this was certainly an unexpected surprise.”
Many shoppers took to social media to share their excitement and disbelief at the deer’s sudden appearance. Some even joked that the deer was simply trying to get its hands on some of Sam’s Club’s famous rotisserie chicken.
“It’s no secret that our rotisserie chicken is a hot commodity,” Hernandez added. “But this is the first time we’ve had a deer try to sneak in for a taste. We’ll have to step up our security measures.”
Despite the unusual occurrence, Sam’s Club remained open for business and shoppers were able to continue their bargain-hunting. As for the deer, it was safely removed from the store and released back into the wild.
Authorities have yet to determine why the deer chose Sam’s Club as its destination, but some speculate that it was just trying to beat the crowds before the holiday rush. Regardless of its motives, this deer has certainly made a lasting impression on both staff and shoppers at Sam’s Club.
“It just goes to show that you never know what you’re going to see here at Sam’s Club,” Hernandez said with a chuckle. “I just hope that next time, it’s not a pack of wolves.”
