Animal Shelter in Poland Urges Public to Help Keep Dogs Warm During Freezing Temperatures
As temperatures continue to drop in Poland, a local animal shelter has issued an urgent plea to the public to lend a paw in keeping its furry residents warm. The shelter, which is home to dozens of dogs, has asked for assistance in providing temporary shelter or adoption for the animals during the blustery cold spell.
“It’s really cold out here, and our pups need some extra TLC,” said shelter volunteer, Kasia Nowak. “We’re talking about -20 degree Celsius weather. You wouldn’t want to be out in that, and neither do these sweet pups.”
The plea comes as a result of the extreme cold gripping the country. While there are many ways to stay warm in chilly temperatures, the dogs in the shelter are finding it particularly tough. With limited resources and staff, the shelter is struggling to keep all the animals warm around the clock.
“We’ve done everything we can to make sure the dogs are comfortable, but we can’t do it alone,” explained shelter manager, Janusz Zielinski. “We need the community to step up and provide temporary shelter or permanent homes for these pups. Without them, we just can’t keep everyone warm and fed.”
The shelter is hoping to find temporary foster homes where dogs can ride out the cold spell. “All you need to do is take Fido home with you for a few days,” said Nowak. “It’s not forever, just long enough to keep him from shivering in his kennel.”
Despite the dire situation, the shelter insists that their dogs are loving, lovable, and fully ready for cuddles. “These pups deserve nothing but the best, and that means warm bodies and full bellies,” Zielinski said. “They’ve been through so much, and deserve to be snuggled up in a cozy home, just like any other dog.”
So far, the shelter has managed to adopt out a handful of dogs to loving, warm homes. Volunteers are optimistic about placing more of the dogs before the cold snap takes hold. “We’re crossing our fingers that the community will rally around these pups,” said Nowak. “It’s cold outside, but that doesn’t mean our hearts have to be too.”
