Jogger’s Frightening Encounter with Adorable Family of Wild Bears

SIERRA MADRE, CA – A local jogger was simply looking for a morning workout on a quiet Sierra Madre trail when she stumbled upon what she thought was the cutest thing ever – a family of wild bears with two tiny cubs! Little did she know she was in for a harrowing experience of a lifetime!

The jogger, who does not wish to be named due to potential embarrassment, was trotting along, minding her own business when she noticed movement up ahead. As she got closer, she couldn’t believe her luck – it was a mother bear with her two tiny cubs, playfully frolicking in the California sunshine. The jogger quickly pulled out her phone to capture the adorable moment and show off to all her friends on social media.

But just as she was about to hit “post,” the unthinkable happened. The mother bear caught sight of the jogger and her cubs immediately stopped playing. In a split second, the tranquil scene quickly turned into a bear versus human turf war. The mother bear, sensing an intruder in her territory, quickly rose to her feet, baring her teeth and growling loudly.

The jogger, who is now questioning her career choice as a jogger, quickly realized she was in trouble. She tried to back up slowly, but the mother bear wasn’t having any of it. She charged towards the jogger, who then dropped her phone in fear and tried to make herself look “as small as possible,” as all the experts suggest.

Thankfully, the mother bear only made it a few feet before stopping to check on her precious cubs, who were still a bit too young to join in the fight. The jogger took this opportunity to run as fast as she could in the other direction, not stopping until she reached her car with a new personal record time.

The jogger, who is still trying to process what happened, says she will never go on a hike or a jog again. “I thought bears were supposed to be cute and cuddly,” she said, “but clearly I was wrong. Never again.”

Experts say it’s not uncommon for a mother bear to defend her cubs, even against joggers who mean them no harm. They urge hikers and joggers to never approach a wild animal, even if they seem harmless. It’s important to give them their space and respect their territory.

As for the jogger, she says she’s grateful to be alive and vows to stick to the safety of the treadmill for her workouts from now on.
