Seattle Man Achieves World Record for Being Really, Really Good at Golf

Seattle resident James Thompson has accomplished something truly remarkable: He has played golf at a whopping 450 courses in just one year, beating the current Guinness World Record. Yes, you read that correctly. This man has managed to squeeze in rounds of golf at over 400 different locations in the past 365 days. We’re not sure how he did it, but we’re pretty sure we’re impressed…we think.

Thompson, who has apparently been interested in world records since he was a child, decided to attempt the feat after seeing a documentary about someone else who had done something similar. We say “similar” because we’re pretty sure that person’s record was for something a bit more impressive than traveling around the country playing golf courses, but hey, we’re not here to judge.

Thompson began his journey in Oregon, where he played his first round on January 1 of last year. From there, he traveled to states all across America, racking up courses as he went. And while we’re happy for Thompson and his amazing achievement, we can’t help but wonder: when did this guy find time to do anything else?

We’re talking about 450 different golf courses here. That’s 450 different tee times. That’s 450 different rounds of golf. Not to mention the travel time, the practice time, the time spent buying new golf clubs and clothing to impress people. This guy has to be some kind of golfing superhuman.

Thompson reports that he received plenty of support throughout his journey, with golf enthusiasts from all over the world following his progress via social media. He even picked up a few sponsors along the way, including companies that produce golf equipment, clothing and yes, even beer. Because what’s a round of golf without a cold one, right?

But even with all the support and sponsorship, Thompson admits that the journey wasn’t always easy. He experienced plenty of setbacks, including weather delays and cancelled tee times. But through it all, he persevered, determined to achieve his goal of breaking the world record for playing as many golf courses as possible in one year.

And now, as Thompson prepares to head towards his 500th golf course, we can’t help but wonder: what’s next? Will he attempt to break another record? Will he retire from golfing altogether? Will he write a book about his amazing journey and become an overnight sensation? The possibilities are endless, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for this amazing golfer.

So here’s to you, James Thompson. You may have spent an entire year traveling around the country playing golf, but you’ve managed to accomplish something truly incredible. We’re not sure if we’ll ever have the dedication and skill to achieve something like this, but hey, we can always dream. Congratulations on your achievement, and happy golfing.
