Bay.

Florida Bay, United States – In a groundbreaking discovery, a road construction crew has stumbled upon what appears to be a 19th-century boat buried deep under the pavement. The crew was in the middle of fixing yet another pothole on the road when they got more than they bargained for.

“We were just trying to do our job and get out of here before the end of the day. But of course, this had to happen,” grumbled the construction worker in charge of the project, who wished to remain anonymous.

According to analysis by the Florida Department of State Division of Historical Resources, the boat appears to date back to the mid-1800s. But instead of celebrating the discovery of this remarkable piece of history, local residents and business owners have taken to the Internet to express their outrage at how this will affect their lives.

“We’re all excited to have a piece of history uncovered, but honestly, does it really have to happen now? We have enough traffic to deal with as it is. This boat is just going to cause more delays and inconvenience for everyone,” said a local business owner, who wished to remain anonymous but was clearly not too shy to voice their concerns on social media.

Another resident expressed concerns about the impact of the discovery on their property value: “I bought my house here fair and square. Now I’m worried that the value will go down because of this boat and that my investment will be worthless.”

Others have pointed out that the boat could delay the planned construction projects in the area, including the addition of bike lanes and sidewalk improvements. “We need those bike lanes, dammit. Who cares about some stupid, rusted-out old boat?” exclaimed one outspoken resident.

Despite these complaints, the City Council of Florida Bay has pledged to take all necessary steps to preserve the historical significance of the boat. “We understand that this boat is a part of our heritage and we are committed to protecting it,” said a council spokesperson in a statement to the press.

Of course, given the track record of road construction projects in Florida, locals are not holding their breath. One resident was quoted as saying, “I’ll believe it when I see it. At this rate, we’ll probably end up with a Starbucks built around the boat or something.”

While the discovery of the boat may not be the most convenient news for some, it should not be forgotten that this is an incredible piece of history that should be celebrated. Who knows what other treasures are waiting to be uncovered on our roads? Perhaps a dinosaur skeleton or a lost city? Only time and construction crews will tell.
