Local Man Somehow Refuses to Credit Pure Luck for Lottery Win
RALEIGH, NORTH CAROLINA – In a shocking turn of events, a North Carolina man claims it was his “instinct” that led him to purchase a scratch-off ticket worth $100,000. You heard that right folks, this ordinary Joe has decided to credit his own intuition for what is clearly a stroke of pure luck.
According to reports, the man had stopped by a convenience store on his way home from work and decided to grab a lottery ticket. As he began to scratch off the numbers, he apparently “felt” that he had a winner on his hands.
We know what you’re thinking – how does one even begin to “feel” like they’re about to win the lottery? Are scratch-off tickets now equipped with special sensory technology that alerts your gut when a big prize is up for grabs? The answer is no, dear readers, but apparently some people are just blessed with an innate sense of luck that us mere mortals can only dream of.
Naturally, the man went home and proudly showed off his winnings to his family who were, of course, thrilled to hear that their father/husband/brother was now $100,000 richer. But even they couldn’t hide their amusement at his claims of “instinct”.
“I couldn’t help but roll my eyes a bit when he said that,” said his wife in a statement to the press. “I mean, don’t get me wrong, we’re grateful for the money. But come on, it’s obviously just dumb luck.”
And we couldn’t agree more. It’s not like this guy had been studying the patterns of lottery numbers or consulting with a psychic on the daily. He just happened to be at the right place at the right time.
But perhaps we’re being too harsh on the guy. After all, who hasn’t wanted to attribute their success to something other than pure luck? It’s a lot more exciting to say that your hard work and intuition got you to where you are, rather than just admitting that you got lucky.
So maybe, just maybe, we should cut this guy some slack. Maybe he truly believes that his “instinct” played a role in his winnings. Or maybe he’s just hoping that by convincing himself of this, he’ll be more likely to win again in the future.
Either way, we can all agree on one thing – this man’s “instinct” has definitely paid off. And for that, we say congratulations.
