HARTFORD, CONNECTICUT – Hold onto your seats, people. An artist from Connecticut has set his sights on the world record for the largest chalk drawing. We know what you’re thinking – what a groundbreaking achievement!
Jonathan Michaels, a self-proclaimed “chalk enthusiast”, has been working tirelessly for the past six months to create the masterpiece. We’ll give him credit – it’s no easy feat to draw a massive image using only a piece of chalk. But, let’s be real, what’s the point of this?
Michaels, who apparently has a lot of time on his hands, has spent hours upon hours drawing the image of a horse. Yes, a horse. We’re not sure what kind of statement he’s trying to make with this, but we’re sure it’s a deep and profound one. Or maybe he just really likes horses, who knows?
The drawing measures a whopping 50 feet by 60 feet and can be seen from space. Okay, we might be exaggerating a bit, but it’s still pretty big. Michaels says he’s hoping to break the current record of 42,195.14 square feet, which was set in Italy in 2019. We can only imagine the excitement and anticipation the Italian chalk-drawing community must be feeling knowing their record is on the verge of being broken by Mr. Michaels.
When asked about his inspiration for the drawing, Michaels simply replied, “I just wanted to do something that nobody else has done before.” And boy, is he doing it. The drawing has garnered attention from all over the world, with people traveling hundreds of miles just to catch a glimpse of this incredible work of art. Or maybe they just happened to be passing by and thought, “Huh, that’s a big horse.”
Despite the attention and admiration, Michaels remains humble. “I’m just doing what I love,” he says with a shrug. “I never expected it to get this big.” We can’t help but wonder if he’s playing it cool or if he genuinely thinks drawing a giant horse with chalk is a lofty and impressive goal.
Michaels’ project has caused quite a stir in the local community as well. Some neighbors have reported feeling envious of all the attention he’s getting. One neighbor, who wished to remain anonymous, said, “I’ve been painting my house for years, but I guess it’s just not as impressive as a horse made of chalk.”
Michaels is set to complete the drawing in a few weeks, just in time for the Guinness World Records committee to come and officially measure it. We can hardly contain our excitement. Will he break the record? Will he make history? Only time will tell. In the meantime, we’ll just sit back and admire this incredible work of art. Or maybe we’ll just go draw a stick figure with our leftover sidewalk chalk. Who knows, maybe we’ll break a record too.
