STIRLING-RAWDON, ONTARIO – In what can only be described as a “crunchy” situation, a truck carrying celery overturned on the Ontario highway, covering the road in the leafy vegetable.
The incident occurred early Monday morning when the driver reportedly lost control of the truck, causing it to flip over and spill its cargo onto the highway. While no serious injuries were reported, the highway was closed for hours as cleanup crews worked to clear the vegetable debris from the road.
Motorists were shocked as they drove by the scene, with many wondering how the heck someone managed to turn celery into a dangerous hazard. “I’ve heard of slippery roads, but this is ridiculous,” exclaimed one motorist.
Another driver, who was clearly unimpressed with the incident, quipped, “I guess we should be thankful that it wasn’t a truck full of glue or jellybeans, or else we’d really be in for it.”
For those who are now concerned about the celery shortage, don’t worry. The celery that was scattered all over the highway was deemed unsuitable for human consumption and was therefore not salvageable.
Of course, the celery farmers of Ontario are now up in arms, claiming that this incident will cost them millions of dollars in lost sales and that they demand justice! “Who’s going to compensate us for our celery?” one farmer decried as he shook a fist at the sky.
Apparently, the farmers want the driver of the truck to pay for the lost celery, but it’s unclear whether that will actually happen. Meanwhile, celery fans across the province are mourning the loss of what could have been some of the best salads, soups, and smoothies of their lives.
And it’s not just the farmers who are feeling the impact of this strange incident. Local restaurants are now scrambling to find new sources of celery to add to their dishes, with some even resorting to importing the vegetable from other countries.
It’s a sad day indeed for the people of Ontario, who will now have to make do with inferior vegetables until the celery situation is sorted out. Who knows what might be next? A truck carrying beets, perhaps? Or maybe one loaded with artichokes?
For now, all we can do is hope that this incident will serve as a cautionary tale for other truck drivers out there. Please, folks, let’s try to keep the roads free of root vegetables and leafy greens.
