Marine Rescuers Save Dolphins, Unleash Them Back Into the Perils of the Ocean
Marine rescue team in Massachusetts successfully saved two dolphins that were stranded in the shallow waters at Herring River’s mouth. The heroic rescuers saved them from a submerged death and released them back into the ocean to face a wide range of dangers.
The dolphins, being the intelligent creatures they are, were surely grateful for the assistance of the humans who, unlike dolphins, aren’t naturally equipped to live and breathe underwater. This team of divers was responsible for saving the dolphins, who had sadly become trapped in the shallow water, without any previous warning from their mammal counterparts.
Despite their appreciation, we bet these dolphins are shaking their fins and asking themselves, “Why did we bother?” Now, back in the ocean, they will brave pollutants, oil spills, toxic waste, overfishing, and all kinds of trash, and the recent increase in natural disasters. Not to mention the predator-packed waters teeming with creatures that would love nothing more than a meal on fins.
It’s hard to know what’s worse; death by humans who are just trying to enjoy a day at the beach or becoming a meal for a shark with its cold, soulless eyes. These dolphins were probably feeling pretty confident after being rescued from shallow waters and came to believe that they had it made in the shade. But alas, their relaxed state of mind is no match for the long list of perils that await them in the open sea.
We couldn’t help but wonder about the fate of these dolphins once released back into the ocean. They’d be better off, perhaps, in the vicinity of marine parks or other controllable environments where they wouldn’t have to deal with the cruel nature of the world’s deadliest sharks. They might have even thanked their human rescuers more if they’d been taken to a luxurious seaside resort with waiters that bring them delicious fish on a silver platter, of course.
In all seriousness, the rescue team has been an amazing help to our marine ecosystem and its inhabitants. Dolphins are important to the ocean’s health and balance, as they play an important environmental role, so their continued survival is paramount. Maybe, with a little bit of luck, the rescued dolphins will find their way to a safe haven, and we can all marvel at the wonder of nature.
In conclusion, it is clear that the rescuers’ motive for saving these lovely sea animals is commendable, but we hope the human race takes a more proactive approach to conservation in the future. Who knows? Maybe, one day, humans and dolphins can be friends, although we’re not sure if our species is capable of that kind of compassion.
