Bull Moose detained and deported from downtown Santa Fe!
In a shocking development that has sent shockwaves throughout the community, a bull moose has been captured in the heart of downtown Santa Fe. According to authorities, the wayward creature was spotted wandering aimlessly around busy city streets, causing a major disturbance to both locals and tourists alike.
Reports suggest that the moose had been on the run for weeks, causing a range of problems wherever it went. Locals who spotted the animal said it would charge at cars, knock over bins and generally behave like a reckless delinquent. Attempts to capture the moose were unsuccessful until it finally met its match in the form of Santa Fe’s finest animal control officers. These unsung heroes subdued the rogue moose using a combination of tranquilizers, nets and raw bravery.
Speaking to our reporter earlier today, a spokesperson for the Santa Fe Police Department praised the efforts of all involved in apprehending the animal: “This was a dangerous situation that could have ended badly,” they said. “Thanks to the quick thinking and professionalism of our animal control unit, a potential disaster was averted.”
The moose is said to have been deported to a “suitable habitat” in northern New Mexico, in an operation that reportedly cost taxpayers somewhere in the region of millions of dollars. “We are committed to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all creatures great and small,” said the spokesperson. “That’s why we spared no expense in making sure that this moose was given the chance to live out its days in a proper natural environment.”
However, not everyone is convinced that the authorities acted in the best interests of the community. Critics of the operation have accused the police of taking a heavy-handed approach to the situation, and have raised concerns over the amount of taxpayer money that was spent in relocating the animal.
“Is this really the best use of our resources?” said one disgruntled resident, who preferred to remain anonymous. “We have real problems here in Santa Fe – crime, poverty, traffic congestion – and yet they’re wasting millions of dollars on deporting a freakin’ moose.”
Whatever the arguments for and against this operation, one thing is certain – the streets of Santa Fe are a little safer now that this rampaging bull moose has finally been neutralized.
