Local woman returns from exotic vacation only to encounter unwelcomed guest in her porcelain throne
PHOENIX, ARIZONA – It was supposed to be a relaxing and luxurious trip, but one Arizona woman returned home from her tropical vacation to a living nightmare. As she entered her home and made her way to the bathroom, she was met with an unexpected surprise – a snake chilling in her toilet.
The woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, first saw the serpent’s head peeking out from the water. “I thought it was just some new exotic toilet decoration,” she joked. But upon closer inspection, she realized that the ‘decoration’ was actually a real, live snake.
The homeowner immediately called for help and shortly after, a team of professional snake wranglers arrived on the scene. “I didn’t know what to do, I was scared and didn’t want to flush the snake back to its natural habitat,” she told reporters.
The snake, identified as a harmless garter snake, was safely removed and released back into the wild. The woman was left shaken but unharmed.
Arizona, with its hot and dry climate, is no stranger to wildlife encounters. From rattlesnakes to tarantulas, it seems there’s no escaping the state’s exotic wildlife. In fact, the woman’s incident is just one of many similar encounters that have been reported throughout the state in recent years.
But despite its reputation for hosting a variety of unique creatures, this particular incident has left many baffled. “Who would have thought that a snake would make its way into someone’s toilet? It’s almost like the boogeyman come to life,” mused one local resident.
Authorities are urging residents to take extra precautions and stay alert around their homes. “This is a reminder that we share our habitats with many different creatures, and it’s important to be aware of our surroundings and take appropriate safety measures,” warned a spokesperson from the Arizona Wildlife Department.
While it remains unclear how the snake made its way into the woman’s bathroom, authorities suspect that it may have traveled through the plumbing system, seeking refuge from the heat outside.
As for the homeowner, she admits that the experience has left her a little traumatized. “I mean, it could have been worse. I could have sat down without looking first,” she laughed. “But I think I’ll be triple-checking my toilet from now on.”
